Takuto: "I'm sorry Ryouta. Though I'm thankful, I'll return to my room."
'I answered after I thought a little.'
Ryouta: "Takuto...!"
Takuto: "I want to think a little occasionally."
Ryouta: "I see."
Takuto: "Thank you for worrying, Ryouta."
'I forced a smile the same as always and began to walk to my room without turning around, though I felt a strong stare at my back.'

Takuto's bedroom - day
Takuto makes scratch number five.
'It was Ryouta's face that came to mind at first. I'll have to apologize for running away last night.'
Takuto's scared to think about why that happened.
Kou's voice: "Takuto. You have been accustomed by that man."
'Haishima's words from the summer house that night had been stuck in the corner of my mind for a long time. The secret that I desperately concealed. Why does that person know it?'
CHOICE #17
1. Go look for Ryouta
2. Go look for Kou.
Takuto: (Should I ask Haishima?)
'I was anxious why Haishima any more knew 'that'. The way he talked about what was done by my father-in-law, was like it was seen. However, it comfuses me to think so. Could Haishima be that person who was really nice to me? Then why did he appear now? Nearly ten years has passed since that day in Britain.'
Takuto: (But...Haishima-san...)
'Really, if he's not a person, if the bright red pupil I was was not a mistake. Many questions whirled in my head. I was not able to even begin searching for an answer and went outside my room.'
*opens door*
(hallway - day)
'I desperately tried to remember Britain while walking along the passage without passing anyone. A cold sweat floats on the line of the backbone.'
Takuto: (Is there no one?)
Takuto: (Certainty, this is Ryouta's room.)
*knocking*
'I reached Ryouta's room at last while walking inthe pavilion and knocked on the door. There was no answer no matter how many times I knocked. It is possible he wnet to search the pavilion for an exit. I left the room to join Ryouta and turned around.'
Takuto: (It is not though even people who go out and multiply are not seen either. )
Several hours pass and Takuto doens't find anyone.
'I went back to my room according to Veronica's orders though I felt cold uneasiness for not being able to meet anyone.'
Candles video - Day to Night
'Veronica always came for me when it was time for supper.'
Ryouta had also been looking for him all day. Isn't it weird that they never ran into each other? Takuto's to meet with Kou tonight.
Veronica: "The master waits in the reception room. "
Ryouta glares at Veronica. He wants to come too.
Reception Room, Kou and Ryouta
Kou: "...Good evening."
Ryouta: "...Cheh."
Takuto: "Haishima-san..."
'Haishima was holding the wineglass in the chair in the front of the room when we entered the reception room'
Kou says all they're going to do tonight is talk and tells Veronica to make their favorite drinks.
Kou: "I don't want you to hold back. ...There is no drink that can't be made in this pavilion. Anything is requested and it doesn't matter."
'A little mischievous thought came to mind from Haishima's words. I wanted to embarrass him even it might be childish revenge.'
Takuto asks for a Captain Morgan. Veronica doesn't blink. Takuto's shocked. It's impossible to have that in this high class place. Takuto says to get something light for Ryouta. Veronica leaves with a nod.
Kou: "I do not know your friend's name still. Takuto, will you introduce him?"
Takuto says a different name. Ryouta gets angry and says it himself. Kou's amused, and watches Ryouta for a while. Ryouta finally breaks the silence and asks what's the point of confining them
Kou (calmly): "Killing time."
Veronica comes back with their drinks before Ryouta can start shouting at Kou. Veronica hands him his glass. It's freshly squeezed juice--hardly any alcohol is in it. Cautiously, Ryouta takes a drink and is surprised at the taste.
Kou: "Is it to your liking? There is no reserve, and Veronica won't mind refilling it when the glass becomes empty."
Ryouta gets back to the conversation about being confined. Kou brings up the earlier conversation about Ryouta and Takuto being friends.
Kou: "[What do you do when it is said to go out of Takuto when you die here and it shows it?]"
***Consider he asks something similar to Takuto later, I think he's asking Ryouta about getting killed while trying to help Takuto.
Takuto and Ryouta are surprised at his question.
Kou: "The same old movie story of a game of my choosing; your life or other party's life."
Kou: "Ah. is it indeed impossible? [However, after all, might the fragile one like friendship.]"
Ryouta: "...Bastard!"
Kou: "Chiharu Makita."
They're shocked by the girls name. Takuto remembers the aquamarine earring he found in the basement.
Kou: "The complexion of Ryouta changed. Tentatively, do you say it is a case of guilt for Chiharu?"
Ryouta: "Sh--shut up!!"
CHOICE #18
1. Ask about Chiharu
2. Keep listening to them.
'I coudn't speak thought I wanted to hear about Makita-san.'
Kou: "Ryouta. Takuto is curious."
Ryouta: "Takuto..."
Takuto: "Haishima-san...!"
Kou: "Oya, Takuto? Please do."
Takuto: "Do you know Makita-san?"
'I was not able to endure and asked Haishima.'
'Haishima did not answer anything, however, wine was poured and added to the glass in his hand while calmly laughing.'
Takuto: "Please answer. Why is the name of Makita-san mentioned?"
Kou: "She is an acquaintance."
Takuto: "Eh?"
Kou: "Ryouta. Are you familiar with this name?"
Ryouta: "SHUT UP!!"
*Glass shattering*
Ryouta throws his glass on the floor. Kou laughs and calls him a foolish child.
Ryouta: Shut up!
Kou: *long chuckle* You realize it's true.
'Haishima's hand grips Ryouta's wrist.'
Kou (evil): "Youth is powerless. You're depending too much on such yourself."
'Haishima twists Ryouta's wrist and lifts him without hesitate.'
Ryouta (painfully): "Uaaa!"
Takuto: "Ryouta--!"
'Ryouta drops down on the carpet while groaning in acute pain. I ran up and shouted toward Haishima while holding him back.'
Takuto: "Haishima-san!! Why do you involve Ryouta? Ryouta and you have nothing to do with each other!"
Takuto asks why Kou has to take it out on Ryouta.
Kou: "I will ask the same question to you.""
Takuto: "Eh?"
Kou (quietly): "If it wants to help Ryouta, you are sacrificed. So, dying is also trivial."
Kou: "Will you be violated by me while Ryouta is looking? Open legs like a women while raising your voice?"
Takuto: "!!"
Kou: "You are familiar with such a thing"
Takuto (angry): "!?"
Kou: "...Aah. It was secret to your friend."
Takuto: "Haishima-san!"
Kou: It is not so very different to violate the woman, than to violate a man. However, though the violated side might be painful and your pride shatters. [Isn't the life of your 'Best friend' decieved in it however if surviving?]"
Ryouta: "You bastard!"
Ryouta tries to attack Kou. Kou kicks him.
Ryouta: *painful grunt*
*thud*
Ryouta crumples to the ground. Haishima kicks Ryouta's stomach to his heart's content. Ryouta throws up on the carpet and his clothes.
Takuto: "Ryouta!!"
Kou: "...Ah, the clothes are dirty. It's just as well. Veronica will deliver the new clothes later."
'I glare at Haishima while holding the back of Ryouta who cannot move any longer.'
Takuto (angry): "You're the worst. It is disgusting for the other party to be submitted only by violence and fear."
Kou: "It was your friend who previously raised his hand to me."
Takuto: "!!"
Kou: "I am only saving my own skin. "
'It was certainly true. The power gap was evident, however, Ryouta, was too pitiful. '
Takuto: "I wanted to believe. I wanted to believe you as there might be some reason."
Kou: "...Reason? ---there is none. [The reason is not even in the choice of you either.]"
Takuto: "Haishima-san."
Kou: "Is the prey that the spider hangs it's nest for chosen? The story of the foolish thing that got caught in the trap. In a word, you who strayed off to here and was caught is only foolish."
Takuto (through gritted teeth): "Haishima-san."
'Haishima leaves while laughing thinly. '
Takuto: "Are you okay, Ryouta? Does it hurt still?"
Sore, Ryouta stands up and says he's okay. He forces a laugh. Takuto helps Ryouta walk back to his room.

~Day 6 - Black Cat~
Blackcurrant: a species of currant native to central and northern Europe. Blackcurrants have a very sweet and sharp taste. They are made into jelly, jam, juice, ice cream, cordial and liqueur. (Cassis is the name of the berries) Being a plant used in drinks in the UK, it's no surprised that Kou has this plant.

Takuto's bedroom - day
Every morning Veronica leaves a new pair of silk clothes on his bed after his shower. Changing clothing after a shower and breakfast was becoming daily routine.
CHOICE #19
1. Go look for Ryouta
2. Go look for Kou.
'I finished chaning clothes and left my room. My purpose was to meet Haishima and talk.'
Takuto: (If I can recognized the room at least...)
'I began to notice "rules" of the pavilion. I can never find Haishima when I look for him. Only when Haishima calls me am I able to meet with him, but nothing changes if I wait to be called. However, I wanted to discuss Makita-san with Haishima by all means.'
After strolling for an hour, he finds himself at the entrance again.
He runs into Alice.
Alice: "I want to go out."
Takuto apologizes for being in her way. He's confused why he didn't hear her. His shoes always make noise on the marble floor. Alice asks if he wants to come with her.
Alice: "It is possible to go out to the garden if it is the same as me. The gate never opens."
Takuto: "?"
Alice: "What will you do? It goes to the garden."
Takuto hesitates, not sure if she's an enemy or an ally. They go outside.
The front of the pavilion during the day
Takuto winces at the light.
'Pain, hot and stifling.'
Alice laughs.
Alice: "You can even follow me if you like. However, I do not think that you should approach the gate. You will only become sad at the fact that you cannot go out."
Takuto questions her intentions.
Blackcurrant plants
They go to the blackcurrant shrubs where the materials for the drinks are collected. Alice starts picking them and Takuto helps. She's speechless for a moment, then remarks that he's finally acting like a gentle man. Takuto graciously says thanks.
While picking them, Takuto thinks that these plants only grow during the summer. It reminds him of the bright red roses in full bloom.
'Rose that blooms at midwinter. Fruits that ripen at midwinter. And, Haishima-san's bright red eyes. Why does common sense not pass here? I noticed myself, who did not think about it further. It's because that would make it true if said aloud.'
'I silently ask Alice who keeps picking cassis.'
Alice: "Separate from work. A hobby"
CHOICE #20
1. Ask about Kou.
2. Keep picking.
Takuto: "Are you Haishima's acquaintance?"
Alice: "It's true."
Takuto: "Then, I want you to teach me....what kind of person is Haishima really?"
Alice won't tell him.
Takuto: "Alice..."
Alice tells him it's foolish to evaluate someone from only one angle.
Alice: "The kind smile to which everyone was relieved, and there was even a horrific killer who had killed 100 people or more."
Alice starts to say something else about the Kou she knows but stops. Kou is her ally.
Alice: "Therefore, I want you to fulfill Kou's wish and cooperate. "
She doesn't hate Takuto anymore, but Kou is more important to her.
'At least to Alice, Haishima is not a bad man. '
Blackcurrant plants - sunset
Takuto's envious of her that she respect Kou, when he's almost lost all affection for him. They keep picking in silence until the sun starts to set.
Alice thanks him for helping. When he tries to leave, Alice tells him to wait. She hesitates to speak, but then asks about his dreams.
***This part gets butchered, but I know that Alice make a drink for him that will give him happy dreams.
Alice: "The chocolate, the cinnamon, cassis, and the following material are secrets. I will have Veronica deliver it tonight "
Sunset
Alice laughs mischievously and leaves. Alone, Takuto walks through the garden.
The gate - sunset
Unexpectedly, the gate jumps into view. Takuto runs up to it and tries to open it.
*iron rattling*
Takuto: "After all, it's impossible."
*cat meow*
'When eyes are given to a young cry, by chance a small black cat is sitting on the other side of the gate. '
Takuto calls it over. The cat doesn't come, so he reaches through the gate for it. He pets it. Suddenly, the idea of climbing over the gate comes to him.
*the gate rattling*
Takuto climbs over the gate and when he lands...the cat's still on the other side. The cat yawns. Certainly he had jumped outside. Takuto scrambles up the gate again.
'And, I jumped down to one's heart's content on the asphalt on the outside. When my place was confirmed...'
'I was still in the garden.'
Takuto laughs weakly.
'I was not able to stand, and collapsed in the place. What I have desperately refused seemed to be pointed out suddenly, and I fall into tears.'
Takuto: "These kinds of things...are certainly impossible."
'Rose that blooms at midwinter. Fruits that ripen at midwinter. A gate not connected with the outside. And,---those bright red pupils of Haishima. If here was not a place where man's common sense had already passed, I was made to learn. The cat was still outside the gate.'

Pavilion Entrance
'After having finished supper alone, my legs carried me to the entrance.'
Takuto shakes the main door.
'No one came to supper. '
Takuto: "You....open!!"
'I moved the key rough as irritation was thrown. '
Takuto: "Useless. It won't open after all."
A mysterious old man appears
Mysterious old man: "Do you want to go out?"
'He appeared out of the shadows. He's the same as Alice. There is no sign, no footsteps, and soon appears before one is aware.'
Mysterious old man: "You are a new guest though it seems you tried to open the door a little while ago for a long time?"
'A frightening overpowering feeling. He unexpectedly narrowed his eyes like having recalled something without me saying anything.'
Mysterious old man: "Are you the child from that time?"
Takuto: "Who are you? How do you know who I am?"
Mysterious old man: "[You have known also. Wasn't there going mad on Kou's eyes? The mind received this time though you shouldered a large crime without defilement. Is it the end finally?["
Takuto: "What are you saying? How do you know me?"
Mysterious old man: "You need not know. "
'He took out the gun from the inside of his jacket.'
Mysterious old man: "This is for you."
Takuto: "!?"
An ornate revolver
Mysterious old man: "This is the arms that can kill only one in this world; Kou."
Takuto: "...!?"
Mysterious old man: "However, the trigger moves only when man who shoots it has true murderous intent."
'The elderly person presents the gun toward me.'
CHOICE #21
1. I take the gun.
2. I don't take the gun.
Takuto takes the gun.
'Cold. Heavy...'
Mysterious old man: "It is loaded. Weak child who was only able to sleep in arm while crying...please kill Kou by your hands."
Takuto: "Please, wait!! You...!!"
(The man fades away)
'Suddenly, only I was at the entrance.'
Takuto: "He disappeared?"
'I desperately looked about surroundings. Was it a dream? I notice the weight of the gun in my hand as soon as having thought so. Arms said to kill Haishima---.'
Takuto stares at the door. He remembers the cat.
'The world on the outside. Reality where I am. It is necessary to kill Haishima to return there.'
Takuto: (To kill Haishima.)
'I'm nears tears...why?'
Takuto conceals the gun as he walks back to his room.
Takuto's bedroom - night
When he comes back from his shower there's a knock at his door. It's Veronica, with a "gift" from Alice.
'The bottle of gorgeous crystal is being held in the hands of Veronica. Contents that seemed to be transparent looked like the syrup of fruits of condensed red wine. '
Veronica: "...Have you already heard from Alice on how to drink it?"
Takuto: "How to drink? Is it something special?"
Veronica: "There is a special effect in the sake here. Takuto-sama, please drink the sake after it gets into bed without fail. Setting it on the bedside might be good. And, when eyes are shut after it finished drinking, time where you want to return is imagined."
Takuto: "Time that I want to return to?"
(Alice steps on screen)
'I did not hear the footsteps. I have begun not to be surprised at such a thing any longer.'
She says it's to remember happy memories. It's his reward for helping her pick the cassis. But it might be addictive though. Once he dreams, he's not going to want to leave here.
Alice: "You are the same sign as Kou, Veronica, and me."
Takuto: "The same sign? Please wait for a moment."
Alice: "You see it in me. The darkness in the bottom of one's hearts. And Takuto, reach the realm of sleep before the Sandman comes."
'Alice waves while clinging to Veronica. She walks blithely and leaves with Veronica like depending too much on the elder sister.'
They leave.
The quote about the sandman brings up a feeling of nostalgia--about a legend his mother told him when he was small. (The sandman, a figure who brings good sleep and dreams by sprinkling magic sand onto sleeping children). When he was a child he thought it was a threat so he firmly shut his eyes.
'The unit contained sake and I slid between the sheets. The smell of the chocolate, the cinnamon, and the rose and various the one mixed, but not an unpleasant smell. I slowly subsided into sleep.'
White tunnel
The last Christmas
'I did not believe the spectacle before my eyes. It was that last Christmas. The last Christmas spent together when papa and mother were alive.'
Takuto and his mother talk about the cake. They decide to wait until tomorrow to eat it. Grown up Takuto laughs at "himself".
'Happy.'
*doorbell rings.*
'The sound of the buzzer is heard, and 'I' and mother face the door. Papa is sure to come back covered with the snows if this is really the dream from that day. '
Takuto's Father: "Takuto. I'm back!"
Takuto: "Father--!!"
'I was correct about my father. It was the spectacle as shown on that day.'
Takuto: "Welcome home papa. It was suitable between Christmases. "
Takuto's Father: "Papa held out for Takuto. "
Takuto's Mother: "Welcome home. I was worried because it said on the news that the trains stopped."
Takuto's Father: "Ah, we were delayed at the station for an hour.".
His mother worries about his health from being in the cold for so long.
Takuto's Father: "It was unpleasant but I'm alright. Takuto, the presents!"
Takuto: "May I open it?"
Takuto's Father: "Of course."
*paper being crinkled*
Takuto: "Aa! How did you know what I wanted?"
Takuto's Father: "It's because papa is a wizard. Takuto wants and any thing you want is understood."
Takuto's father laughs.
'Passed present---In the last present from the papa and mother, it's a telescope that in those days I wanted for a long time. Of course, it was a small simple because I was a child. '
Takuto: "Thank you, father! The sky will be seen well with this"
Takuto's Father: "Ah it sees very far. Look at the night sky tonight and see if the snow will clear up tomorrow."
Takuto: "Hai!"
'Did I want these kings of things when I was small?'
'Perhaps because it was mother who waited for papa's return while looking out of the window over the garden. Therefore, I who was young wanted a magical item to see far.'
Takuto's Mother: "You'll catch a cold if you don't take off your coat."
Takuto's Father: "Ah, that's true."
Takuto's mother complains about the chicken.
'And, 'I' and papa and mother walk into the living room. When she sits on the table, the cake is taken and divided by mother. I who bubbles over. Father and mother who laughs happily. I was looking at the spectacle I was not able to return to like seeing a movie.'

Takuto wakes up to the usual knock from Veronica.
'Something was different today, however, perhaps it's because of that nostalgia dream last night. The spectacle of the last Christmas spent with my parents recalled sadness and the loneliness that I had kept inside for a long time. In case of the accident. Grandmother and my relatives comforted me, [and the meaning was not considered from me who was the child deeply. And, the memory has been weakened before one is aware.]'
'Papa and mother's smiles that seemed to be happy last night awoke the memories from the day of the funeral.'
"[That is the monster, you were killed in the monster.]"
***They may be accusing Takuto, but this accusation doesn't come up again...that I've noticed.
'Were two people really killed by someone? I, who was a child, did not have the art of looking for the truth.'

1. Go to look for Ryouta
2. Go to look for Kou.
(hallway day)
Ryouta didn't show up for dinner last night, possibly because of what Haishima said about Makita-san. Takuto decides to look for Kou because he thinks Ryouta won't say ting to him. Takuto wonders if Alice or Veronica will tell him anything.
'It is while thinking such things that Veronica appears to be cleaning the floor in the passage ahead.'
Takuto: "Veronica?"
Veronica: "Takuto-sama. Did you have a wonderful dream last night?"
Takuto: "Eh...?"
Veronica: "It is likely you drank Alice's sake."
Choice #23
1. I had a good dream
2. Nothing was seen.
'In my mind, I remembered last night's happy dream.'
Takuto: "Ah, I had a nostalgic dream."
Veronica: "It was well."
Takuto: "Umm..."
Veronica: "What is it?"
'I was looking for Haishima, but I said nothing.'
Takuto: "I'm sorry, it's nothing. Bye."
'I turned by back to Veronica. Perhaps it's because I thought Veronica and Alice would say the same thing. I did not have the energy to look for Ryouta either and went back to my room.'

(Dining room)
'There was no appearance of Ryouta at the table when I was guided by Veronica to the dining room. As for meal, only my amount is prepared.'
Veronica: "Ryouta said that it would eat in his room today."
Takuto: "Today?"
Avoiding the question, Veronica asks him what he wants to drink. He asks for red wine.
Takuto: "Veronica...Ryouta seemed to be unwell."
Veronica says he drank some herb sake and had trouble sleeping. She leaves. Takuto sits down at the empty table. He doesn't have much of an appetite tonight.
(Hallway)
Takuto sees a flash of black hair the way back to his room. It's Ryouta. He follows him to the wine cellar.
CHOICE #24
1. Run after Ryouta.
2. Return
It was hard to consider Ryouta going into the cellar when he doesn't like alcohol. He runs after Ryouta.
Wine Cellar
Ryouta's looking around on the floor. Takuto calls his name and scares the shit out of him. Takuto tells him that Veronica said he was having trouble sleeping. Ryouta asks if it's strange for someone under these circumstances to have trouble sleeping.
'Ryouta begins to go up the stairs like refusing the conversation. (Ryouta suggests they go back to their rooms) Ryouta leaves, as if running away.
'What were you doing? What were you looking for?'
Makita's Earring
Takuto: "Makita-san..."
Takuto: (Can I do nothing but directly confirm it with Haishima after all?)
Takuto climbs into bed imagining the last time he saw the girl.

~Day 8 - "Her" Murder~

The second hallway
After having a small amount of breakfast, Takuto finds himself standing outside the wine cellar.
'The entrance to basement, where Ryouta was last night. Ryouta's unnatural haste didn't dissapear from my mind even though the night passed. I came here to look for what?'
Takuto: "Ah...!?"
'A voice echos back. I turn around quickly.'
Veronica: "Do you have some orders in this place? There's only wine here if you're looking for a drink."
Takuto: "Ah, sorry. I was thirsty for a moment. I thought that there was something to drink."
Veronica: "It's possible to ring the bell like previously said."
Takuto: "Ah...I haven't become accustomed...to it yet."
Veronica: "Don't be worried. Serving is my duty."
'It's as if it was a programmed answer. I didn't think she'd answer my questions.'
Veronica: "Do you have a drink in mind?"
Takuto asks for tea.
Veronica: "Understood. Then I will be at your room at once."
Takuto thanks her and leaves after Veronica does.
(Takuto bedroom - day)
'I, who had gone back to my room, was playing with the earring while waiting for Veronica to come. If this was really Makita-san's earring--'
*knocking*
Veronica: "I brought your tea."
Takuto: "Thank you. You may enter."
Veronica announces her enterance.
'Veronica approaches pushing the cart. And at that moment she noticed the table.'
Takuto: "...?"
'For a bried flash, I really thought that Veronica saw the earring that I'd set on the table.'

1. Ask about the earring.
2. Nothing is said.
'I was not able to overlook her reaction and asked boldly.'
Takuto: "Veronica? Do you recognize this earring?"
Veronica: "No, why?"
'Her expression was like a doll that didn't show feelings at all.'
Takuto: "You looked at it."
Veronica: "I only wondered why Takuto-sama had not applied the earring."
Takuto: "Ah..."
'I was only a little ashamed of my conviction at that mooment.'
Takuto: "Veronica, I found it in the wine warehouse."
Veronica: "Is that so?"
Takuto: Is it your's or Alice's?
Veronica: "No."
Takuto: "Why was it dropped there?"
Veronica laughs at him.
Veronica: "Takuto-sama. The master has justed moved to this mansion. It might have been an article lost by the people who lived here before."
Takuto: "Eh...!?"
Veronica: "It is small."
Veronica: "There is no need for Takuto-sama to worry."
Takuto: "I...I see. Certainly..."
Veronica tells him that it's such a big house that she has to keep clean.
Veronica: "Please inform me if another lost article is found.
Takuto: "I understand...I'm sorry I interrupted your work."
Veronica: "No, don't worry about it. Then, I must be going."
*door shutting*

Veronica comes to get him for dinner. Ryouta's at the table when he gets there. Takuto asks if he's okay. Ryouta smiles and tells him he's fine and to stop worrying.
